Heat Exchanger
Improve
the effectivness of your stove with a heat exchanger! Standard wood stoves have
an exhaust temperature of between 280°C
and 380°C. The heat travels unused through the chimney into the atmosphere. The
increase in surface area provided by a heat exchanger results in an impressive
gain in radiant heat output, and the pipes built into the baffle of the
exchanger cause air movement. Cool air from the room enters at the bottom, is
heated, and exits at the top as warm air through convection. The constant
turnover of warm and cool air ensures a constant, even
heating.
Be
sure to size your heat exchanger correctly! Larger models may lower the exhaust
temperature excessively, resulting in excess creosote buildup in the chimney.
This, in turn, has a negative effect on the ability of the chimney to draw out
the exhaust. It is not possible to make a 12 KW stove out of a 6 KW model! A
healthy ratio must be maintained. We will gladly advise
you.
Important:
Never buy a heat exchanger with horizontally placed pipes. These can only be
cleaned with great difficulty and the rapid clogging can cause rapid creosote
buildup.
